Boys' Day
Boys' Day is May 5th, but the stores are already filled with Kintaro and Momotaro dolls, helmets, armor and carp-streamers. My favorite was this doll with an 愛 helmet. I think we'll probably just stick with some small streamers for Rin though, since the helmets etc. cost an arm and a leg.

That doll does look pricey. At least with a boy you don't have to fill up several shelves with doll$. The carp are really beautiful to watch as they "swim" in the wind. I remember buying one on Cape Cod when I was a child just because I liked it so much - had no idea of the meaning, of course.
