Get Your Kicks...

As of yesterday the baby has begun kicking! What a truly odd sensation it is. It feels kind of like gas, but much more sudden and less diffuse. Any mothers out there know what I'm talking about? I'm really enjoying it now, but I can imagine it'll get old once the baby gets a bit stronger and really starts putting some leg in it. For the moment, however, I'm on Cloud Nine!

What a kicking baby may look like (not my stomach)

It gets truly freaky when the elbow or knee visibly grazes across the belly. I don't think I ever got tired of touching my wife's belly when he got active. I'd get cross when she'd neglect to call it to my attention. Eamon was a real kicker. Obviously I only experienced it second-hand. I could deal with a little less kicking now that he's two, though.

Again, congratulations.

Whoa! I know that's not you - if Baby Kanou's foot was that big at week 21, you would not be looking forward to labor day.
It IS a strange and wonderful feeling: now it becomes a "real baby" that you are waiting for.
You, yourself, were quite the lively kicker - something I found less wondrous on those nights when I had just gotten my ungainly self into a comfortable position to sleep...

Coolness. I was so shocked the first time I felt it I wasn't sure what it was!

Then there was a 2 week period where Katie was knocking her head against my bladder - kinda unpleasant but also cool.

Later in my pregnancy she would hiccup as soon as I laid in bed - so for 5 to 10 minutes there was this rhythmic jumping in my belly -weird.

Enjoy!!!

Love to you and Sho

Thanks for all the comments everyone! It really is thrilling to feel the signs of life for the first time! I'm getting more and more excited by the minute.

Paul: You're moving to Sanda pretty soon if I remember correctly. You'll have to let us welcome you to town and show you around a bit!
