Poor Rosie:かわいそうなロージ

I decided to write the blog in Japanese today, for some reason. An English translation follows. (And a googlation)

Poor Rosie. Yesterday we went to a barbecue at Sho-chan's company and Rosie played soccer with some of the kids there. She looked like she was really having a good time running around like wild and chasing the ball. But, when she finally got tired of playing and came back to where Sho-chan and I were sitting she was walking kind of strangely. She looked really exhausted and like she was having trouble walking. I got really worried when I saw that, thinking that maybe somehow she had broken a bone or something, and we left the BBQ right away to take her to the animal hospital.

When we got to the hospital and took a good look at the bottom of her feet, we saw that all four of her paws were badly cut, and some of her nails were broken. Probably from running around on the concrete, but I never would have thought that could happen. Her paws looked so painful and I felt so sorry for her. When we asked the vet what to do, she said that in most cases even if you bandage the paw, the dog will just be bothered by it and pull the bandage off by itself, just making things worse, so we just got some anti--biotics and took her home.

Today she's still walking really painfully and it seems like getting to the park to pee under her own steam is going to be impossible, so Sho-chan and I are taking turns carrying her. We thought about using a wheelbarrow or something, but when we tried to put her in it, she totally freaked out and now she won't even go near it.

I hope our poor daughter will recover quickly.

update: She's doing a little better today.

Google version:

Rosi poor. Yesterday her company's positive, you want to barbecue, low. The kids and playing with the soccer. Mirthfully very fired up, chased the ball around. Play tired, and I go back under her positive when it is OKASHIKATTA walking strangely, it was extremely difficult HEROHERO walk. I was very anxious to see the "chances are that her bones were broken," and worried about the barbecue to leave early and went with animal hospital.

Animal Hospital of feet, it is often common in the four ball feet with a badly cut meat Resona tear, and the nail was also some time. Perhaps full concrete I ran because it was, I think it is absolutely not. I'm sorry I really spicy. But a veterinarian's advice to him, gauze wrapped around it on one's own is taking her six-worse in many cases it is said that, he went back to get antibiotics only.

Today it is still very painful to walk, and the park on one's own is not likely to go of the positive and I take turns on her lap to take. In a wheelbarrow accompaniment of a lift and thought I'd go, but once I really hate it wanted to cart approached me.

The poor can heal our daughter is quick to pray.

update: this morning a little BETTER.

Tulips, Tulips and More Tulips

This past Sunday, Shoichi and I took Rosie to the Kasai Flower Center. It's a lovely botanical garden in Kasai City that has a huge variety of different kinds of flowers and trees. It's tulip season now, so we were treated to a spectacular display of more than 300,000 tulips of 450 kinds. My favorites were the black ones and the red ones edged with orange and gold, but they were all stunning.

They also had a good-size green-house filled with tropical plants, including some carnivorous flowers that wave their fronds to attract insects. If anyone gets a chance, I definitely recommend it. I believe the next seasonal flower to be showcased is azalea or satsuki (which, by the way, is the old Japanese name for the month of May).

    Anaesthesia x 2

This Friday was super busy. We took Rosie to the vet to get fixed, and then I had to go to the dentist to get a cavity drilled in preparation for a filling. We had really long waits at both the vet and the dentist so basically the whole day was gone. I did get some funny pics though. Take a look...

Sho-chan clowning around with Rosie before we went to the vet. She loves to jump up, so when she jumped up on me, Sho-chan hugged her from behind and we got a silly picture.

When I went to the dentist these were the toilet-slippers they had. "Always a delightful surprise", indeed. I tell you, if there's one place I don't want a surprise, delightful or otherwise, it's the toilet...

After Rosie came out of surgery, they gave her this collar to wear so she wouldn't lick her stitches; in Japanese it's called an 'Elizabeth collar' [cool] or an 'Animal Necker' [uncool]. Of course I had to try it on too, being the big 'ol dork that I am. What do you think? Goes rather stylishly with my blue turtleneck and white hat look, no?

    Sleeping Beauty

Bec just skyped me the most fantastic pictures of Rosie. I can never get her to sit still for a photo, but Bec caught her when she was asleep and the pics are just heart-melting, but see for yourself....

    初詣 (Hatsumoude)

Yesterday Sho-chan and Rosie and I went to Hatsumoude (the first shrine visit of the year) at 2 different shrines; Nagata-Jinja in Kobe and Hachiman-Jinja in Sanda. We stayed over his parents house on New Year's Eve with Rosie and we all went to Nagata shrine together at midnight. It was pretty cold, but we had a good time and I got a candy apple. I always LOVE all of the little stalls that are set up around the shrine whenever there's a festival. Candy apples, okonomiyaki, baked potatos, corn-on-the-cob, fried squid, tai-yaki, goldfish-dip, and all the stalls selling multicolored Daruma. It's so festive and exciting you forget how chilly it is!

We took Rosie with us on our second shrine visit, and she was mostly well-behaved, but acted up a little on the way home. She sees other dogs and she just wants to play with them, but she can't. Anyway we had a good time at the second shrine and both Shoichi and I got Dai-kichi (Big Good Luck - the best fortune) for our New Year's fortunes. Yeah!
